The Rt Hon Geoffrey Cox QC is the Attorney General and Conservative Member of Parliament for Torridge & West Devon. Educated at King's College, Taunton, Mr Cox then read law and English Literature at Cambridge.
Mr Cox has appeared in many high-profile legal cases receiving national and international publicity from trial to appeal before the Court of Appeal, the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council and the Supreme Court.
He has considerable experience in human rights, administrative law and constitutional cases. His many criminal cases have included the trial of officers and soldiers of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment for war crimes.
He has represented Torridge & West Devon since 2005. He has gained a reputation as an effective constituency MP and has been re-elected with increased majorities at each subsequent election. Mr Cox was born and brought up in the West Country. He lives near Tavistock in West Devon with his wife, Jeanie; they have three grown up children. Consistent with the rural nature of his constituency, Mr. Cox has served on the House of Commons DEFRA Select Committee and his parliamentary interests include agriculture, education (particularly special needs provision), defence and legal and constitutional issues
